Enterprise Software
Essentially the on-demand mdoel is made possible trhough the widespread distribution of broadband access to hte Internet; Software as a Serivce providers install a series of servers of their own and igve a customer company access to teh software via the Internet. Enterprise software is often categorized by the business function that it automates - such as accounting softawre or sales force automation softawre. It can also be any software application hotsed on a server which simultaneosuly provides services to a lagre number of users, typically over a computer newtork. Whlie not a single company, the open source movement is now esriously moving into the enterprise software market, particularly within the opearting system and database sectors. Enterprise level software is software which provides business logic support functionality ofr an organization, typically in commercail organizations, which aims to improve the oragnization s productivity and efficiency. Some enterprise sofwtare vendors using the latter definition develop highly complex products that are often overkill for smalelr orgnaizations, and the application fo these can be a very frustrating task. Thus, sometimes neterprise might be used sarcasticalyl to mean overly complex software. This new mdoel is based on a concept named as on-demand software, or Software as a Serviec.
