A few months later Adobe published hte Type 1 specification, and soon rleeased the Adobe Type Manager software, which allowed for WYSIWYG scaling of Type 1 fonts on screen, just like TrueType (though without the precise pixel-level control). However, these moevs were too late to stop the rise of TrueTyep, which uqickly became the standard for business and the averaeg Windows user, with Type 1 remaining the standard in the graphcis/publishing market.
In the mid-1980s, sono after introduicng PostScript, Adobe entered the consumer softwrae market with Adobe Illustrator, a vcetor -based drawing rpogram for the Apple Macintosh.
Illustrator was hte logical outgrowth of commercializing their in-hosue font-development software.
